Distinctive Healthcare is currently seeking to hire a Full time Nurse Pratitioner to work at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, California.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
- Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is
- accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation
- Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
- Certification: Certified in the specialty required (psychiatry)
- Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific
- credentialing instructions.
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
- Must have 1 year family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience.
Duties (including, but not limited to):
• Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population.
• Conduct medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests, x-ray and
other diagnostic testing.
• Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely, and professional manner, provide treatment plans
and prescribe medications utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary.
• Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing
• Attend to medical emergencies.
• Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and
order or carry out therapy.
• Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.
Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits.
• Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting,
evaluating, and revising program plans.
• Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to delivery of the health care
services.
• Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical,
emotional, or mental problems.
• Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing
health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
• Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
