Physician Assistant Nurse Practitioner Waco, TX
We are looking for an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our hospital-based gastroenterology team full time in Waco, TX.
We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable provider to care for our GI patients in a hospital setting with occasional follow up with patients, post discharge, in the clinic.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of Hospital based experience, extensive knowledge of medical theory, practices, and regulations to give and evaluate patient care and the ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. We are seeking a provider who can react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, can communicate clearly, and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.

Duties:
- GI care services in a hospital setting
- Assessing and managing inpatient census
- Perform physical exams, obtain complete medical history, and record findings
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
- Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan
- Order/administer medication and injections as deemed medically necessary
- Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments
- Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute medical needs of patients
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information
- Posts tests and examination results
- Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation
- Collaboration with other providers and supervisory physicians for comprehensive patient care
- Discharge of patients from the hospital
- Occasional follow up with hospital patients, post discharge in the clinic
Requirements:
- Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
- Current Texas NP or PA License
- Ability to be credentialed with all payers including Medicare and Medicaid
- Minimum of 3 years of PA/NP experience in a hospital setting required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
Salary (range):
- $110k per year (depending on experience)
