A correctional facility is seeking a nurse practitioner for locum tenens coverage.
The facility is located in Virginia.
This position is available ASAP for a 3-month term, with the option to extend. Credentialing takes approximately 10 days once the application and required documents are submitted. A drug test and online training (which may be completed onsite depending on the location) are also required. The role is a float position within the central region of the Virginia Department of Corrections. It involves working 40 hours per week, potentially on a 4/10 schedule, with no call or weekend duties. The case load is 18-20 adult patients per day, and the EMR system is paper-based with Sapphire used for prescriptions. Candidates must have a VA medical license, VA DEA, and corrections experience is preferred. There are RNs and LPNs on staff, but the physician must be able to work autonomously.
